June 12, 2017 -- Doctrine and Covenants 6:34

I have now been a missionary for a whole month, which is beyond strange. I cannot comprehend in my mind how quickly time is passing, and yet how slowly it goes at the same time.

This week has been the busiest week of my entire life. I want you all to know that it rains more in one day here than it did in months back home. Just on Monday it rained so much that our entire trash can was completely full. We were so wet that we decided the only solution was to dance in the rain, which I am sure surprises none of you.

Oh Thursday we had a half-mission conference. I met so many amazing missionaries, and we were honored to hear Elder Useda of the Seventy Speak to us about the importance of our work. It was such a spiritually uplifting experience, and I can barely describe the joy that I felt listening to his words. After the conference was over, he had interviews with a few of the missionaries, and I was lucky enough to get to meet with him. (Because I am one of the new missionaries.) He asked me about my life, about my family, and about my decisions to serve. I was able to ask him questions as well, and then he told me that he was receiving a very specific prompting, and that there was someone that the Lord needed me to hear. The message that he shared was very personal and very sacred, so I won't share it specifically, but I can promise you all that the Lord is mindful of each of us and he knows of our needs. He listens to your prayers and loves to bless you. He knows what you need to hear.

On June 10th, my one-month mark of missionary service, I was blessed to be a part of the baptism of James Adderley, the newest member of the Madison Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was positively beaming, and when we asked him how we was feeling he told us that he was "different. Good and different". The next day he was confirmed a member of the Church, and he received the Holy Ghost to be with him always, as long as he is righteous. In just the few short weeks I have been here I have seen a mighty change wrought in his life through the power of Jesus Christ and his everlasting Atonement, and I am so humbled and so blessed to be here serving great people like him. Random fact, James' family has a bunch of cats and they all have pretty awesome names. The mom is Sassy, and my favorite names from the kittens are "The Police" and "Tiger".

Here in Madison we are blessed with much work to do. Recently we received a referral for a man named David Stanford. He has been visiting every church he can find, trying to find the one where, he says, "The Spirit of God resides". He came to ours on Sunday and told us that he hadn't "felt the still small voice like that in years." We were able to testify to him of the truth of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ, and we are going to meet with him again on Wednesday. We are so excited to be able to bring him the happiness and joy that can be found in this, the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Sister Hulstine continues to be so amazing and such a support to me. Where I sometimes fail, (as one must expect to do when they are a beginner) she is always there to catch me and lead me forwards. Every person I have met in my life has been placed there by my Father in Heaven for a reason, and if I had not believed that before my mission I sure would now!

This week has humbled me and challenged me in so many ways, and I have truly had to lean on my Savior as my strength. No matter how long the days or how tiring the work, I know that I can do all things through my Savior who strengthens me. I have been called to bring the world his truth, and I truly love this work.

For those of you who are interested, my mission has a blog. It's

My mission president posts pictures and mission news, if anyone want to read some more about where I am!

My mom also has a blog where she posts my letters. It's sisterlaurelscott@blogspot.com

That is it for this week! My prayers are with you always, and I am loving it here in Madison Florida!
