June 26, 2017 -- Come Unto Christ

All,

This week has been a long one! We continue to be blessed beyond measure here in Madison Florida. We have had so many opportunities to share the Gospel, and there have been so many times that I have seen the Hand of the Lord leading and guiding us in his work.

We recently started teaching a man named Shaun Davis, who has had a very difficult past. He wants to change his life for the better and find eternal happiness, and we were so excited to be able to share with him the hope that the Savior brings. He is in his 40s, and has had multiple strokes. It is sometimes very hard to understand what he is saying, but the Spirit doesn't need any translating. Speaking of being hard to understand, our lessons with Mario continue to be a source of great joy. This past week we decided to do a lesson focused entirely on the Atoning Sacrifice of our Savior Jesus Christ. We talked about how the Savior gave us the blessings of being cleaned, being strengthened, and being comforted. That is the center of our message as missionaries. It is all about the Savior and coming unto Christ, and anything else we may say or teach is just an extension of that purpose. I also learned so much through that lesson. It was like as we spoke, I felt the Spirit testifying to me as well the truth of our words. The Savior truly loves each of us. He truly suffered and died for each one of us. He truly rose again. How sweet the joy that gives.

David continues to listen to and love the message. He calls or texts us almost everyday with new questions and new insights, and we can feel of his love and faith in the Savior. Seeing his life be changed for the better through Christ is such a blessing to behold.

We were also able to be a part of a baptism of a little girl in our branch! Her name is Mikayla and she is 8 years old. Her sweet desire to follow Christ and be baptized brought tears to my eyes, and we were so happy to be able to share that day with her. David came to the baptism as well, and told us that he could not be more excited for his own!

Our recent convert from earlier this month, James, received the Aaronic Priesthood this Sunday. You could feel the love of God fill the room, and looking at the joy on his face was truly an honor and a blessing. You can really see how the Gospel changes hearts and impacts lives. If you want to find happiness, you only need to look upwards.

In all of our trials we find hope and life through the Savior. What a powerful lesson to learn. I love you all, I love this work, and I will see you in just 17 short months.
