August 14, 2001 -- The Priesthood is Restored
Howdy all Y'all!
This week marks three months since I have been out on my mission! That is so weird to think about, but I have been so grateful for every moment. I can't wait for 15 more months of serving the Lord and bringing the World his truth.
Our recent convert, James Adderley, has been sharing the Gospel with his family. His sister, Malvise, his soon to be sister-in-law, Tia, his daughter, JaMea, and his daughter's maternal half-sister are all investigating the Church now. They said they have noticed a huge difference in Brother Adderley since his baptism, and they want that peace and joy for themselves. It is such a miracle and an honor to be able to help teach them and to share our testimonies with them. Brother Adderley comes to every one of their lessons, and you can see the joy on his face as he shares with the people he loves most in the world the joy of the Gospel. God is so, so, so good.
Our other recent convert, David Stanford, was given the Priesthood and ordained to the office of a Priest this past Sunday. Afterwards he was able to be a part of passing the Sacrament for the first time, and once again you could feel the joy radiating off of him. He truly has embraced the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ, and is changing lives by his example. He has given his mother and his nephew copies of the Book of Mormon, which they are both now reading. He says he wants them to feel the joy that he has. Sometimes I just have to sit back and marvel at the goodness and grace of God, and watch him work his miracles.
I am so blessed to be serving in Madison. The congregation here is a little branch, and each and every member is so involved in missionary work. They do everything they can to help us, and they share the Gospel with their friends at every single opportunity. They help me to grow my faith every single day.
The love of the Savior is always there, waiting to bless and comfort us. Each moment of every day, all you have to do is look heavenward for the peace that you need. When it feels too hard, when you feel small, when the world seems to be crashing down all around you-- know that the Lord is there. Know that he cares about you. Know that he is carrying you in His arms. He always has been. He always will.
I love you all so much and I miss you each day. Have a great week, and don't forget to read the Book of Mormon!
