August 21, 2017 -- Limo Rides and Transfer Calls

Hello Y'all!

This week has been such a whirlwind of change and goodness! We started teaching an amazing family, the Mitchells, and they are so sweet and sincere with their desire to learn more about Christ and his restored Gospel. We are now teaching 14 people. It continues to amaze me that the Lord chooses such weak and simple servants to do his work. He truly loves all of his children, and I have loved serving in this area and seeing those miracles.

On Saturday we got a call from President Smith about transfers! We found out that I am going the Pensacola Zone to serve in the Fox Run area, and Sister Hulstine is going to the Panama City Beach Zone to serve in Callaway as a Sister Training Leader! I have been telling her all transfer that she would be called as an STL. She is going to be such a light to the missionaries and the people in her new zone and area. As for me, I am a little bit terrified to leave Madison and to be done with training. But if the Lord needs me somewhere else, then I know that is where I am supposed to be. We leave on Wednesday, so I will have my new address and information in my email next Monday. My new companion's name will be Sister Adams- I can't wait to meet her! Since both Sister Hulstine and I are being transferred out, there will be two new missionaries coming in with no previous knowledge about the area except what we leave with them. Not only that, but they are going to be Elders! There haven't been Elders in Madison in over a year. We are excited for the change, and we know that the Lord knows what is best for the people here. We will be sad to go though. I have really grown to love every single one of the amazing people we have met, members, non-members, and investigators alike.

This week has also been full of some wonderful stories. This past Sunday, one of our members had us over for lunch. They were giving us a ride there, and when we walked out of the church we saw a limo waiting for us! Apparently the Thompson's, (The members who were having us for lunch) own a limo company and they thought we would enjoy riding in one. They were very right! Riding in a limo for the first time was not an experience that I was expecting to have on my mission, that is for sure.

There is a preacher in Madison who is kind-of notoriously anti-Mormon. I have heard about them a lot since coming to this area, and this past week we met them. It was a very interesting and educational experience that helped me to realize just how much faith I actually do have in the Book of Mormon and the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Christ's church on the Earth again today. The good news is that because of transfers, we won't have to run into this preacher again. They have been looking for the Sister Missionaries for a long time- we just won't tell him that there are Elders coming in now. :D

Our investigators are continuing to do amazingly. We drove down to Perry this past week and had an amazing discussion with our investigator Linda Howell who is preparing to be baptized in November. She told us that she has been reading two chapters out of the Book of Mormon every single day, and she is praying to know if it is true. She says she is starting to get an answer, and she is starting to realize that this is the one true church on the Earth. Teaching her has been such an honor and a miracle. I am really going to miss her.

We also had exchanges this week, which was really fun. Our STL Sister Richins came to work in Madison with me, so I lead the area for an entire day and nothing terrible happened! In fact, we were able to make some good contacts and teach a few really inspired questions. I am constantly amazed by how much care Heavenly Father has for his servants. He sends us everything we need to do his work. Sister Richins was able to help me realize and see so many wonderful things, and I thank the Lord for that.

We also went and had dinner with the Lintons, a less-active and part-member couple who are some of the kindest people I have ever met. We had an amazing conversation about faith, and how we can develop it. They had so many questions about our own personal testimonies and how we feel God's love for us, and the Spirit was so strong in the room that if I had looked to my left and actually seen the Savior sitting there in the room with us, it would not have surprised me.

In all of this goodness, I have realized a few things. First-God loves us. He really does. I have been saying that my entire life and I never really understood it until now. Second-God knows us perfectly. He knows exactly where we need to be, who we need to serve, and who we need to serve with. Third- my weaknesses are made enough if I rely on the Lord to do the work. It is not the missionaries who share the Gospel. It is Christ.

That is all for this week. I love you all. I miss you dearly.

And hey-read the Book of Mormon?
