October 23, 2017 -- Irish Pagans?
Buckle up friends, this is a weird/wonderful one!
This week has been so blessed! We are excited because Sister Burton's girls are getting really pumped for their baptism on November 18th. They are so cute and sweet and everytime we go over there they just light up and hug us! The little girl Avry, is five, and during one of our lessons we asked her how she could show God that she wants to follow Him and she said "By letting the girl Mormons come to your house!" It was so sweet and made Sister Burton, Sister Adams, and I all laugh.
On Tuesday one of the members of our ward, Sister McArthur, came out and did work with us for over 6 hours, and we saw so many miracles! We visited so many people in the ward and we were able to visit a part-member less-active family, and nonmember is actually interested in meeting with is and learning more about the church! We are also going to have the opportunity to go and do service for them, hopefully this Saturday.
A few weeks ago while we were working the Booth that we have at UWF, the college in the area, we met a boy from Ireland named Austin who told us that he was actually pagan. We had such a good discussion with him, and he accepted a Book of Mormon and we set up a return appointment with us for this past Thursday. We met with him, and he was so prepared to hear our message! He told us that he has actually been looking to learn everything he can about Christ. He asked us to get him a Book of Mormon in Gaelic, so thus far on my mission I will have taught people who speak English, Spanish, Chinese, and Gaelic. He also calls us "lads", which we think is the Irish version of "dudes".
After that I came down with a pretty bad case of the flu. I blame it on the flu shot I got a few weeks ago. We had to stay inside for a couple days, but Sister Adams was able to get a lot of work done and clean our whole apartment and it looks way nice now!
On Sunday I was feeling well enough to make it to church (thank goodness!) and we were able to go out and try to see some people. Just as we were pulling up to go see one of our investigators, Coya, one of her friends pulled up to see her as well. We were able to talk with her and explain who we are, and she had actually seen missionaries before! It was so wonderful, and she said she would love to meet with us and accepted a Book of Mormon. Her name is Betty, and we are so grateful that the Lord helped us meet her at exactly the right moment. If we had gotten there even one minute before or after we did, we probably wouldn't have met her.
God is so good. He loves us so much. I am so grateful to be serving Him. Have a great week everyone! And hey- read the Book of Mormon, okay?
