September 25, 2017 -- Norse Gods?

Howdy y'all!

This week has been so crazy! I don't have that much time to email because went to the beach this morning (perks of serving in Florida!) but here are some highlights!

This week we met a man on the street named Vinnie who told us all about how he is a deeply spiritual person, but he doesn't really have a belief in Christ. As we got to talking, he told us that he actually believed in the Norse Gods! Like Thor and Loki and Odin? He thinks they are real! It was the most interesting conversation about religion I have had yet, and he scheduled a return appointment with us to learn more! We will see where all of that goes.

UWF is actually a part of our area, and so this past week I got to go back onto a college campus. We are going to start doing some campus proselyting work, which is a little bit different because of freedom or speech laws. It made me a little homesick for BYU, but I am excited for the fun that we will have talking to college kids about the Restored Gospel!

I also had the opportunity to attend Sister's Conference! Every year in the Florida Tallahassee mission, every single Sister Missionary gets together and we have a special Conference. It was so amazing, and I got to see Sister Burnham and Sister Hulstine again! It was so so so amazing to see them. Sister Burnham and I spent the whole time laughing and catching up, and seeing Sister Hulstine was the highlight of the day. It made me miss Madison and all the work that we were able to do there, but it made me grateful for Fox Run and everything I have learned here! God knows us so well. :)

We also had an amazing experience with one of the members in the ward, Sister Long. We were driving her to an appointment with us and we were stopped at a stoplight. There were some young men staring at us in the car next to us, and we don't think it was because of the tags. Sister Adams said they were checking us out, but as a missionary I don't notice those things. (Just kidding they totally were). So Sister Long asked us to hand her a Book of Mormon. We did, and she HOPPED OUT OF THE CAR and ran to this guy's window and handed him a Book of Mormon! He was actually flipping through the pages as we drove away! She is so amazing and is such an awesome missionary. She said, "Maybe he thought you were cute enough that he will come to church, and then the Elders can teach him!

There were some disappointments this week. A few of our investigators called us to tell us that they are no longer interested in meeting with us. BUT we did not let that stop us, and because of God's mercies we found 11 new investigators who are interested in hearing more. We also visited with a Sister who has not been to church in over 20 years who came to church yesterday and brought her daughters. How wonderful is God??!!

Love you all! See you soon, and I highly recommend going to the beach.
