December 18, 2017 -- Big News!
Hello all of you lovely people!
This week has been full of so many good things and so many hard things! But life is like that, so it is all good. :)
Haley Burton had her baby! We got to go see little baby Christopher Mason this Wednesday, and he was absolutely adorable. He had fire-truck red hair, which was unexpected because his mom is African-American and his dad is a blond Caucasian. I wish I had my camera because I would have taken pictures! He was so cute though.
We also started teaching an amazing lady named Shelia this week. She is from Brazil and speaks Portuguese, so if you are keeping track that means that I have now taught in English, Gaelic, Spanish, Mandarin, Japanese, and Portuguese. Who says going state-side means you are going to only teach Americans?! She is amazing though. She got interested in the church because her father recently was baptized, and when he was his entire life changed. He became much happier and loving, and Shelia wanted that positive change for her life. She told us that if she received a sign from God that this was the correct church, she would be baptized. The day after she told us that, she found out that her brother had also recently joined the church! She told us that that was the sign she needed, and we are going to figure out a date for her baptism this week. It was certainly a miracle from God!
I had to say goodbye to Sister Adams today, which was really hard. I love her a lot and I am really going to miss her. She taught me so much and she really helped me to find my stride and begin to understand how God feels about each one of his children in this area. As we speak she is at the mission home, preparing to see her family tomorrow. I was expecting a call from our zone leaders telling me who my new companion was going to be, but instead I got a call from my Mission President on Sunday night with some pretty major news-
I am going to be a trainer!
I just cannot believe it. I am so humbled and anxious about this call, but I am very excited to be able to help a brand-new Sister learn all about missionary work and how much joy it can bring her. If anyone has any advice, please send it my way. I could sure use some. Also a lot of prayers. Please pray for me, and for her. We are going to live, but we might get a little bruised along the way! :D
Because Christmas is next week, my preparation day is not going to be Monday, it will be Tuesday. So that is when I will be emailing! I get to talk to my family next Monday, and I am beyond excited. I can't wait to see their faces again and hear their voices. It really has been too long.
Thanks all folks! Sorry I don't have any pictures to send, but I will try my best to find my camera soon! (Sister Adams took some on her camera that she will give me in an email soon, so I will hopefully have pictures for you nest time.)
