January 15, 2018 -- Migraines and Baptismal Interviews
Howdy All!
Interesting weeks always make for interesting memories. We are continuing to work and do all that we can to help the Lord move His work along here in Fox Run! Some very wacky medical things happened that made this week rather difficult. On Wednesday I started to feel really shaky and dizzy. It got to the point that I really couldn't talk much and the right side of my body was getting numb. This was a little bit of a source of alarm, since I generally enjoy being able to move and think clearly. We called the mission doctor, Elder Labrum, and he told us that it was most likely a hypoglycemic attack? Crazy stuff. The result of that is that I am totally fine! The reason I bring this up is because when we started realizing that this was going down, we were literally walking into an appointment with a new investigator family named the Kempfs. I had no idea how we were going to be able to help or teach them, and they are at a pretty desperate place in their lives. They needed some servants of God in their home. I spent the entire lesson just praying to God to help me make it through the time that we were there so that we could help them and bring them some light. All I needed was to be strengthened for 45 minutes. It was incredible how when they would talk or ask a question, my mind would be cleared and I wouldn't be dizzy anymore. God is so amazing! (Don't worry Mom, I didn't think it was too serious or I would have left the lesson and took care of my health first.)
The next day I woke up with a migraine. I've had headaches before, but this was something ELSE. My little sister Eryn and my big sister Aubrey get these, and I had not understood at all what they were going through until now. It made it so that we had to stay inside for an entire day. I stayed in a dark room and tried not to move or make too much noise. I bring this experience up because that was the first time since coming on my mission that I was forced to be completely still. For an entire day, I didn't do a lot of moving. I sat and I thought and I meditated. I think God knew that I needed that. I am not sure why a migraine was the method in which He showed me the importance of stillness, (maybe that was the only way I would listen?) but I realized that in the middle of all the craziness and the people we need to take care of and the work that we do, we still need to be Still and know that He is God. That He is taking care of us, and that He is always going to lead us along.
The Burton girls are doing so well! They had their baptismal interviews this Sunday and they both passed! That means that at 5 pm central time, January 20th, Hayden and Janea Burton will both enter the waters of baptism! I cannot explain to anyone how much those two girls mean to me. I love them beyond anything I ever expected. I have watched them grow and change for months, and I am so honored and blessed that God has allowed me to be a part of this great journey for them. I just want it to be Saturday already!!!!!!!
This PDay we had an amazing member family, the Caldwells, take us to the beach! It was so much fun and extremely beautiful. I cannot believe how kind they were to take us all the way there and have lunch with us. They have four girls, which is how my family is, so it was a little bit like going out with my family. We also went and had Family Home Evening with the Burtons, playing kickball at a park near where they live. It has been such a great day.
I love you all! The Lord is so so good and I cannot wait to email you all some pictures of my girls at their baptism. And hey- read the Book of Mormon?
