April 30, 2018 -- My Favorite Duet
Hello Everyone!
Incredible things happen every single day as a missionary! I think this week certianly proved that.
Remember the amazing youth who is introducing all of her friends to the gospel, Sarah? Well, she has been at it again! On Tuesday we went to a lesson with her and Hayley, and she had brought another one of her friends to meet with us! Her name is Michaela, and she is 11 years old. She loved what we taught and wants to meet with us again! She asked her parents and they are totally okay with her meeting with is as well, which is always positive. We also talked to Hayley about her desires to be baptized, and she set a baptismal date for June 2nd! She is so sweet and is progressing really well. I wish I was half the missionary that Sarah is! One of my biggest regrets in life is that I didn't share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with all of my friends growing up. Sarah will never have that regret!
Brother Tom is also doing really well! We have been discussing the 10 Commandments with him, and it has taken us 3 lessons to get through them all because of his great insights and questions. He has taken to giving us little stickers, notepads, and pens. He calls it "Tom Foolery." Which makes us laugh. I just want to adopt him as my Grandpa, and I really think that he and my Grandpa Scott should be best friends. He also joined us at Samantha's baptism so that he could see what a baptism is like. (He loved it!)
So that brings me to the greatest and most wonderful part of this week- I was able to go back to Fox Run and be there for Samantha's baptism!!! It has been quite a journey with them. I have been through every part of it, from finding her with Sister Adams to setting a baptismal date with Sister Kitchen. Samantha's little brother, Raymond, was also baptized! It was incredible. He is only 8 years old, and even though he was afraid of the water, he was brave enough to do go under it as long as his dad was holding onto him. That's right folks, Brother Pedicord was able to baptize his son, only a month after his own baptism. My heart just about exploded when I saw them go into the water together. Also at the baptism, I got to see the amazing and wonderful Autumn again! When she walked into the room I just went over and hugged her as hard as I could. We sat down together to watch the baptism, and both of us were just crying. I really, really hope that is what the celestial kingdom of God feels like, because seeing Autumn again felt like pure joy. I've said it a thousand times, but I'll say it again- Autumn, Sister Kitchen, and I were supposed to meet. We were supposed to all become best friends. Autumn and I are going to be a part of each other's eternities, there is no doubt about it. If how I felt seeing her again after only 6 weeks is any indication, how I feel when I get to see her again in heaven is going to be magnificent. I also got to sing a duet with her. We sang "I Stand All Amazed" with absolutely no rehearsal and completely a cappella, and though I messed up quite a bit. it was wonderful. Just singing with that girl again helped me to remember why this is all so worth it. I am so grateful to God for Autumn and for the whole Pedicord family. Those amazing people are the reason that I am on a mission. I'm meeting my best friends and helping to be a part of salvation in the process. Can you think of any better way to spend your time? I sure can't! (And I get to do it for another 6 months!)
Sister Burnham and I got a very unexpected call this morning. I have only served in Pace for one transfer and Sister Burnham has only been here two, so we were thinking that we would probably stay together for at least one more. It seemed that God had other plans, because Sister Burnham is being transferred. She is going to be going to Callaway, and I will be staying here in Pace. I am going to miss her so much! I am so grateful I got the opportunity to be companions again with such an amazing girl. The name of my soon-to-be-companion is Sister Shumway, and I am very excited to serve with her! She came out with Sister Kitchen, so I'll be able to celebrate my year mark as she celebrates her 6 month mark! Crazy how quickly time flies.
That is all for this week! Remember that there are always miracles around you if you take the time to look for them. I'm onto a next chapter, about to meet another friend. I can't wait to see what blessings the Lord has in store! Until next time- don't forget to read the Book of Mormon!
