July 14, 2018 -- I Love The Book of Mormon

Honestly, this week has gone by in a blur, and I'm not even sure what to report on. We have had a few really beautiful experiences though!

We are working with a man named Kaleel who has a very interesting story. He was taught by missionaries two years ago, and he was actually going to be baptized then, but a few days before his baptism he decided to cancel it. He felt at that time that he didn't really have a testimony of anything, and he didn't want to make promises with a Being that he felt he didn't know. Since then, he has been approached by missionaries on campus multiple times, and he would always tell them that he was an atheist. Recently he decided to give God another chance, and meet with us again! He is in it for real this time, and is planning on being baptized in August. His big hold-up has always been that he has a hard time believing in God. When we met with him this week, he told us that at church on Sunday there was a moment during the Sacrament that everything just clicked for him and he wanted to jump up and shout for joy because he knew that there was a God! We all celebrated together, and he is now racing towards his baptism with all his might! It was such an amazing experience, especially since his journey towards this moment has been so long. It is a testament to the fact that God has perfect timing. Kaleel also told us that talking to missionaries feels different this time, because he feels like he has a connection and a friendship with us. That is one of the reasons I love serving on a campus- I'm making real friends! My own age! All the time!

Speaking of friends, can I just say how much I LOVE the Book of Mormon? It is helping me make so many new friends! We started teaching a sweet girl named Shankeria last week, and when we shared the message of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with her, she told us that just that morning she had been praying to God for direction on what Church she should belong to, and we were an answer to her prayers! We met with her again this week, and we read the Book of Mormon with her. I have never had a more spiritually exciting scripture study before! We were all so passionate about the Book of Mormon and the insights we were having in it. When we got to the end of the first chapter, Shankeria said, "We aren't stopping there are we? We have to read the next chapter!" So we did! Everytime I have an experience like that with the Book of Mormon, I am reminded that it MUST be from God. No man-made fable could fill my soul in the way that the Book of Mormon does. It is better than all of my favorite musicals, books, and songs combined. Shankeria says that she already feels the same way, and she is excited to come to church tomorrow.

Markese is doing great. We asked him how he was feeling since his baptism and confirmation, and he told us that he feels like one of the family. We excitedly told him that he is, and that he always will be. He has joined the family of Christ, and he will never have to be alone again.

I also found out this week that there is a list of soon-to-be departing missionaries in the mission office here in Tallahassee. That is so that all the necessary preparations are made on time so that the missionaries leaving can have a good transition back into regular human life. The list includes missionaries leaving during the next three transfers. I saw a copy of the list. I am on the list. I REPEAT, I AM ON THE LIST. When I saw it, I suddenly realized that I only have 4 months left to be a full-time servant of God. After next week, I will only have 3 transfers left. That is how long Sister Adams had when we first became companions, and that time FLEW by!

I now have an even greater drive to work as hard as I can for as long as I possibly can and never stop! I don't have forever to wear this beautiful nametag, and I need to make sure that every single second counts. My mission has flown by so quickly already, pretty soon I am going to blink and be on a plane to see you all. I hope I have some miracles to share with you all when that day comes!

Until next week friends! Sorry, we didn't take any pictures this week. I'll be better in the future. I can't wait to hear from you all soon! And hey- don't forget to read the Book of Mormon!!
