July 28, 2018 -- Keep Calm and Hamblin On

Hey Everybody!!

So, I've got some big news! To preface it, I would like to explain a little bit about mission culture. Sometimes missionaries will talk about our missions being like mini "lives". So we call the first area we serve in where we were "born". Our trainers are our "mothers" (Or "fathers" if you are an Elder), and when we train, that is your "baby". The area we serve in when we go home is where we "die". It makes us laugh, especially when you hear a missionary talk about how they are about to have a "baby". With that explanation, I would like to announce that I had a "baby" this week! Again! So now Sister Kitchen has a little sister! Her name is Sister Hamblin, and she is one of the sweetest people I've ever met. She is so humble and is soaking up campus life. She learns fast, and she is already bearing testimony and sharing scriptures like a pro! Unfortunately that means I'm not companions with Sister Boyce anymore, which makes me really sad. But I'm excited for this new chapter! It's like God is giving me a second chance I can improve and do something right for the last little bit of my mission. Once Sister Hamblin is finished with training, I will only have 6 weeks left to be a missionary. That doesn't sound very long when you put it like that, does it?

That's really the big news for the week. Between getting ready for Sister Boyce to leave and getting Sister Hamblin settled, the work was a little slow. We did start meeting with a really sincere girl named Esmerelda who was taught by the Sisters about a year ago. She told us she isn't even sure why she stopped, and she is grateful to be meeting with us again. She has such good questions and an honest heart, and I'm grateful to be a part of her journey.

Kaleel is doing so well and is SPRINTING as hard as he can towards his baptism. He met with us three times this week, and his baptismal interview is going to be tomorrow. So if y'all could keep him in your prayers, that would be incredible!

I love you all! Let's talk again soon, Okay? Until then, read the Book of Mormon! You won't ever regret it.
