October 6, 2018 -- Repentance Day
Hey Lovelies!
So, it's very weird to be emailing on a Monday again. Sorry about all the schedule changes! Never fear though, P-day is going to happen again this Saturday. So look out for another email in four days!
This has been a crazy week, and I have so much love in my heart for this area and for the people here. Sister Hamblin and I decided that we really wanted to show Heavenly Father that we are here to work, and so we decided to have "Repentance Day" last Tuesday. I highly recommend it to everyone, missionary or otherwise. The general idea is that you do every single thing that you have failed to do previously, because of fear. So, you talk to all the intimidating people, you contact all the less-active members, etc. Our bus passes had expired (that's how we get to campus everyday) and so we were going to have to call someone to try to get a ride. BUT it was Repentance Day! We were going to do all the hard things. So we decided to walk to and from campus. It was a total of 6 miles, which isn't really that far, but it was hot and we were already tired. God blessed our efforts though! We talked to 17 people that day, and found two people to teach that actually go to TCC! Also, two people that we have previously taught who hadn't been messaging us back finally did! Miracles. Repentance Day. It's a thing. Mark it on your calendars-October 2nd. I'm going to celebrate it every year for the rest of my life now.
General Conference was this weekend, and let me just say, I needed it! General Conference is always an amazing experience, but as a missionary it has become my favorite weekend of the entire year. Do y'all realize that we have a prophet who lives on the Earth today? A Moses, a Noah, a Joseph Smith to receive guidance and direction from? And have we ever been instructed! Starting in 2019, church will only be 2 hours instead of 3. I only wish I was still going to be a missionary for that so that I could see how it will affect the work that we do! I invite every single person to watch the messages from this Conference and to apply them into your life. I am already trying to do that, and I can feel the power of God entering more fully into my heart.
That's it for this week, folks! We visited the capital building today and took a lot of pictures, so that's what all the photos I am going to send are from. I'll email you again on Saturday! This week is sure to be exciting, there is a hurricane coming through! All of our campuses have been closed down because of it. I have no idea what our coming week will look like, so stay tuned for my next weekly. Until then, remember that I love you, that God loves you, and that you need to read the Book of Mormon!
