September 29, 2018 -- God Has Made Me To Laugh

Howdy Y'all!

This week has been a roller-coaster. With my efforts to re-dedicate myself to the work, Satan has definitely been re-dedicating himself too! With all the storms that a mission can create, I know that the Savior can always get us through.

For the past while I have been studying the Old Testament a little bit. Though the stories often confuse me, I always seem to find little nuggets of gold in there. This week, I was reading in Genesis. In chapter 21, Sarah, who has been barren her entire life, gets pregnant. In verse 6, "...Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me." When I read that, I had to stop and ponder it for a long time. Sarah has been waiting for this moment her entire life, and when she is asked to describe her feelings, she says that she was given this joy to help others feel it too.

Is that what we do with our joy? Do we share laughter and love everywhere we go? Are we grateful for the gifts we have been given? Because God gave them to us to bless others as well.

This week has definitely been a challenge. I have been tested in ways I have not been for a long time. But I know that God is preparing me to feel joy, and when that happens, I hope I can help everyone to laugh with me. We are all on this Earth to help those around us laugh. If we have done that, we have seen miracles indeed.

That was the theme of my week- finding the laughter. Though this week has been rough, there have been some giggles. I went on an exchange with Sister Call, who is a fantastic missionary and friend. We also got to do service at Octoberfest, which is exactly what it sounds like. A bunch of Latter-day Saint Missionaries serving food to people who are getting progressively more drunk. That was funny! I got to talk to Sister Case, Sister Paulk, and Sister Shumway there.

There is laughter- if you look for it. Never ever stop looking! Sorry I don't have any pictures this week. Until next week friends- and Hey! Don't forget to read the Book of Mormon!
